Snowflakes (aka Cookie Press Cookies)

Ingredients  

  • 1 cup butter
  • 3 ounce cream cheese
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon grated orange peel
  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon

Steps 

  1. Mix butter, sugar and cream cheese in stand mixer.
  2. Beat in egg yolk, vanilla, and orange rind.
  3. Gradually add in flour, salt, and cinnamon, which have been sifted together.
  4. Fill cookie press with dough and press cookies onto cookie sheet. Decorate cookies with a sprinkle of colored sugar or a cinnamon sugar mix.
  5. Bake at 350˚F for 12-15 minutes for larger cookies or 7-9 minutes for smaller cookies. Edges should be just starting to brown.
